At the request of a fellow prepper I decided to put this post and video together.

Some things I forgot to mention in the following video…

  • EchoLink – This is a program where Ham repeaters are wired into the internet. This is obviously only going to work if the grid and the internet are working but if you mask your IP, use proxies, VPNs, TOR, etc… you’re location will be fairly secure. This program only works with a valid call sign issued by the FCC. You can also use this on a laptop and (illegal activity warning) jack into the outside phone technician box on a random house to get your access, hell, everyone has high speed internet now a days… OR, use someones free WiFi like the public library or McDonald’s. The options are literally limitless if the grid is still up. They also have smartphone apps but as I said in the video, USE A BURNER PHONE and DO NOT link up any accounts on that phone or BINGO you’re busted!
  • FLDIGI – I mention it in the video but here is the link DOWNLOAD ME HERE.
  • National prepper frequenciesDON’T USE THEM!!! You can bet your ass these frequencies will, as well as already are, being monitored by the bad guys. OPSEC, OPSEC, OPSEC!!! These plague frequencies are as follows:
    80 Meters – 3.818 MHz LSB
(TAPRN Net: Sundays at 9 PM ET)
    40 Meters – 7.242 MHz LSB
40 Meters Morse Code / Digital – 7.073 MHz USB
    20 Meters – 14.242 MHz USB
20 Meters Morse Code / Digital – 14.073 MHz USB
    2 Meters – 146.420 MHz FM
    440 (70 cm) – 446.420 MHz FM
    FRS/GMRS – Channel 4 (462.6375 MHz)
    CB – Channel 4 (27.005 MHz)
    MURS – Channel 4 (154.570 MHz)
Stay the hell away from and avoid these like you would the plague.
  • Receive Only. If all you want to do is gather as much information as you can then just get receivers. A good, digital police scanner and a good, side-band capable shortwave receiver with continuous frequency coverage are all you will need.

This video was 100% off the cuff so I’m sure I said something inaccurate. If you have any questions or comments don’t be afraid to ask.

Always, always, always do your own research. I can’t stress that enough. I AM NOT A RADIO GOD!!! I am just another average extra class ham radio operator that happens to also be a prepper wanting to share my knowledge with the community. There are so many things you need to know, this is just a primer. For instance, proper grounding of equipment, antennas, etc… is not only critical to keep your expensive equipment safe from lightning but also diminishes noise in the signal and allows for clearer communications. It’s a whole other world to learn about.

I’ve included some pictures of my setup for reference. You can click them to zoom.

As always Like, Share, Comment, etc… Share the Love and keep on prepping.

For a while now I’ve had a post brewing in my head that I’m going to title “Preppers in the Bible” but until I write that here is an excellent post on how prepping is 100% biblical. So for now show this to your fellow Christian friends when they mock you for prepping, or worse yet, call you a wicked sinner for thinking Christ won’t protect you (even though that’s not what your think)…

——————-

This is one question that drives me absolutely crazy. Decent, well meaning people who I believe are truly devout Christians think being prepared is strange. Some of these folks actually believe prepping to be a sin. REALLY!?!?!?!!!

Even if you are not a person of faith, hang in there for this post. We will be discussing common excuses Christians use for not being prepared, their rational behind these excuses and yes, what the Bible teaches us about preparedness.

Reasons Christians Don’t Prepare

Christians have all of the usual excuses to not be prepared, no time, no need, no money, and no space are very common. In addition to all of the excuses that you could hear everyone give, Christians have a few excuses that they believe are religious based. In fact some of these reasons are even looked at as being holy.

God will protect me.
God will provide for me.
I am sure the church has a disaster plan.
Being a prepper means you are living in fear.
Being a prepper means you don’t trust in God.
God won’t let things get too bad.

We as Christians tend to grab one scripture and build our lives around it. There are churches and even denominations that  are founded on a small section of the Scripture. All Christians have been guilty of this at least a time or two. We are going to look at each of these excuses. I am going to list the scripture that the belief in based on and will also provide the counter point.

With many nations of the world today claiming to have nuclear capabilities, and the constant bombardment of negativity floating through the mainstream media the thought of a nuclear event seems to be creeping back into potential disasters we need to be prepared for. Well, in my mind it always has been, especially lately.

Boy, this September shit is really making people panic, even those who aren’t preppers. Case and point, my in-laws are freaking out right now because the pope is coming.it’s going to be world wide financial collapse, Armageddon, etc…. if it is world wide and you just took all your money out of the bank, the next day you might be able to buy a sandwich with it. Learn skills, don’t just buy shit.

When planning for disaster, we run through scenarios in our mind and those scenarios give us a visual baseline for which we make plans. As preppers we talk a lot about the steps you can take right now to get prepared so that you will have a plan, supplies and options for when that disaster may strike. Often preparedness deals with the immediate effects of disaster like having a vehicle to bug out or having plenty of food and water to deal with shortages. The next logical step from that is a longer term plan, but those long term prepping plans usually revolve around extensions of those same basic needs: Food, Water, Shelter and Security.
